Penn Fruit closes three stores in Delaware County
Three Penn Fruit outlets in Ridley Township Springfield and Glenolden shut suddenly Saturday leaving more than 150 workers unemployed as part of a broader retrenchment. Company spokesman Myron Kaplan cited severe price competition and cash strains while noting 10 of 55 stores closed in the Philadelphia area and that about 500 workers were laid off overall.
