Two Delaware County Firms Win Contracts Totaling Over 13 Million
Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton of Eddystone lands an 11.5 million Army Engineers contract to design and manufacture nine hydraulic turbines for dams in Washington Oregon. A 3.5 million award earlier this week covers three turbines for Tennessee. Lansdowne Steel and Iron Co. Morton wins 1.8 million to manufacture about 33 000 five inch cannon shells for the Navy. Senator Joseph S. Clark announces both awards. The BLH deal includes six turbines for John Day Dam Oregon and three for Lower Granite Dam Washington.

AFL CIO United Steelworkers cut its wage demand for the first time since Johnson intervened at the White House. Talks near a settlement with the industry as a strike deadline loomed at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. The union trimmed about 1k, bringing the target to just over 48 cents an hour over three years.
