In a two hour public exchange at E T Richardson Middle School Edgar and Kane clashed over tax cuts and federal spending. Kane pledged a 30 percent tax cut once in office while Edgar warned such a cut would widen the deficit and hurt those on fixed incomes.

Police said five others were injured, including two juveniles.
In a three week U S District Court trial ending in a mistrial, 78 year old Samuel Spear stood with 78 year old defendant Chester Mayor John Nacrelli against 10 jurors seeking conviction. Juror Nancy Worth said she believed a government conspiracy argued innocence.
