County GOP Slate Is Announced

The Delaware County Republican Committee announced a slate led by chairman Arthur C.Throne. Endorsements include Orphans Court Judge E Leroy van Roden and Court of Common Pleas John W Diggins. Incumbents Throne and Frank T Dotts for County Commissioners. Raymond Start as District Attorney. Joseph Pappano for Recorder of Deeds. Howard Freed Jr. as Prothonotary. Thomas J Gamble as Treasurer. H Gilroy Damon as County Surveyor. Two newcomers Reed and Gamble bring fresh energy to the party. Reed chairs the Young Republicans. Gamble is a longtime Aldan local and Philadelphia contractor. Endorsements did not specify continued support for Knodel or Linvill.

Blaze Kills Woman and Three Men at Silver Lake Cottage

A fire yesterday destroyed a converted six room summer cottage near Silver Lake. Victims named are John Mead 20 his wife Ruby 35 John R Stephans 28 a boarder and James R Fratton a merchant seaman who had stayed the night. Cause of the blaze is not yet determined.

Third Man Arrested in Plates Theft Case

New England Firm to Acquire Baldwin Related Unit

A Cambridge Massachusetts based company DeForet Inc will be acquired by Baldwin and will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. The plant employs 200 people and is led by Dr Arthur Ruge Frank Hines and Edgar J Jones with headquarters at 15 Moulton Street Cambridge. The firm makes electrical load measuring cells fluid pressure gauges and strain gauges.
