Crime decline in Delaware County signals statewide trend
Delaware County crime fell 10.8 percent in 1982, the first drop in five years, with Part I offenses down 12.2 percent and Part II crimes down 9.9 percent. Violent crimes such as murder and rape declined, while drunken driving and liquor violations rose amid tougher laws and enforcement. Governor Thornburgh cited tougher sentencing and prison policies as a contributing factor.
