Cardinal O'Connor urges charity while pressing abortion ban
At a National Right To Life convention Cardinal O'Connor urged more private and church aid for women facing unwanted pregnancies while maintaining pressure on lawmakers to outlaw abortion. About 1,000 listened as 100 NOW protesters gathered nearby and 29 anti abortion demonstrators were arrested at a clinic curbside. He said abortion laws are immoral and an obligation of public officials, citing a Pope John Paul II remark on abortion as a grave violation of the law.
