DA rules no murder case over Centrone beating case
Greta Centrone receives word after a seven month inquiry that the medical evidence cannot prove a direct link between the 1972 Delcroft Shopping Center beating of her son Danny and his 1999 death from choking. District Attorney William H. Ryan Jr. cites lack of an unbroken chain of events to sustain homicide charges. Danny Centrone, 38, had been 17 when attacked in 1972 by Warlocks motorcycle gang members, leaving him brain damaged until his death.

Western Delaware County opposes off track betting plan
At a four hour hearing at the Ramada Inn, more than 20 speakers urged the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission to deny Philadelphia Park's bid for an off track betting facility at the Erie Twin cinema. Only one speaker supported the project, while residents cited traffic crime and gambling addiction fears. Philadelphia Park contends the plan would boost the cinema complex and create about 100 jobs.
