Clinton unveils plan for higher taxes on rich to fund job growth
Bill Clinton presented a campaign manifesto proposing roughly 300 billion dollars in four year savings and funding for housing, transportation, inner city programs, and education. He would raise taxes on individuals earning 200000 dollars annually to create a top bracket of 35 or 36 percent, while scaling back middle class tax relief. The plan aims to put America back to work with more than 50 billion dollars annually in new investment, and it calls for a redesigned welfare system and substantial spending cuts to offset deficits. He outlined shifts at town halls in Atlanta and a conference in Houston.
