Trent Trial to Open Monday in Los Angeles Case
Charles Chester Trent, 41, chief engineer on a Sun Oil Co. supertanker, goes on trial Monday for the murder of his wife Dorothy Trent at their home in the Los Angeles area. Prosecutors say the slaying led to a sensational case in a county known for high-profile trials, with pre trial petitions and anticipated testimony from their children. The defense argues Dorothy sent letters accusing the husband and that the children were urged to reject him for not following his religious sect leader Apostle James Raymond. The trial will be held in Courtroom No 1 before Judge Henry G. Sweney, with Judge Paul R. Sand assigned to preside.
