Drowning search ends with fruitless four hour recovery effort
Two witnesses reported a blond child about 6 to 8 years old in a pond off Pond's View Road in Concordville but no missing child was reported by 11:30 p.m. Fire crews combed 8 to 10 acre pond for more than four hours without success. Fire Chief Steve Cooper noted two trucks remained until 8:30 a.m. as a precaution.

Murder rap in Chester drug shooting linked to Aston deaths
Kevin Logan, 24, of Buickley Place, charged with criminal homicide and 14 offenses in connection with a Wednesday drug related shooting that killed Herbert J. DiLuzio and seriously wounded Joseph Iacona III of Aston. A second suspect, Rothwell, 19, is wanted. The incident followed a drug deal near 10th Street and Morton Avenue. Damages included a crash into a Scott Paper wall. Iacona is related to local business owners.

Whiteside undertakes second liver transplant in Pittsburgh
Russell Whiteside of Boothwyn, who donated 20 percent of his first liver to a critically ill girl, underwent a second liver transplant at Presbyterian University Hospital after lapsing into a coma. Doctors found a new donor liver and Whiteside was in critical condition. the girl had died.
