United pilots reach tentative settlement to end United strike

United Airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association reached a tentative settlement after nearly four weeks of a 5000 pilot walkout. The pact awaits ALPA master executive council ratification and the union will not resume full service until an agreement is secured.

Parole date set for 429-pound sex offender Giorgianni

Joseph A. Giorgianni, 35, once released briefly in 1962 due to his size and weight, will receive parole on December 17 after serving three years of a 15 year sentence for abetting a 14-year-old girl’s abuse at Jo Jo's Steakhouse in Trenton. Judge Barlow earlier reduced then reinstated the term amid protests. Giorgianni weighed 429 pounds after losing 64 pounds in prison.
