St Cyril of Alexandria marks 50 years with carnival
St Cyril of Alexandria parish in East Lansdowne marks a silver anniversary 50 years after its founding in June 1928. A 7:30 p.m. mass opens a four day celebration including memorial rites for founder Rev. Edmond I. O Shea and fundraisers, with about 2,400 families linked to the parish. The history traces rectory setup on Emerson Avenue to the first mass in Stonehurst Elementary, growth to a church on Penn Boulevard, a school wing, and past parish leadership from Fathers Fallon and O’Donnell to Monsignor Dean. A yearlong observance includes a 3 p.m. mass October 15 and a Holiday Inn dinner.
