Militant Chief Is Arrested in N. M. Manhunt
Roies Tierina leader of the Con federation of Free City States was arrested with two others at a state police roadblock south of Bernalillo New Mexico after a wide manhunt that included tanks and the National Guard. The group had raided a northern New Mexico courthouse last Monday, firing on police and taking hostages. Tierina, 40, and his son Hugh Reyes Tijerina, 19, and Uvalde Velasquez, 47, were jailed in Santa Fe with heavy guards.
