SEPTA board to vote on manager's ouster
The SEPTA board will vote on ousting William R. Eaton as general manager. David N. Phillips, 71.8, will return as acting GM while a three member committee led by John W. MacMurray searches for a new head. Eaton led SEPTA since 1970. Phillips previously served as acting GM and led the PTC. He will be paid 50,000 dollars through year end or until a new manager is hired. The firing follows a yearlong management study labeling SEPTA worst in the nation in several areas.
