Fidelity Liberty Trust merger approved in principle
The boards of Fidelity Philadelphia Trust Co and Liberty Real Estate Bank & Trust Co approve in principle a merger. Exchange ratio is 7/10 share of the merged bank for each Liberty share. The new entity would hold about $730 million in resources and operate 45 offices across Delaware and Pennsylvania. The Fidelity quarterly dividend rises to 65 cents per share. July 15 dividend payment to shareholders record June 28.

Man Sentenced in Brookhaven Conspiracy Holdups
Fred M. Peddicord of Brookhaven was sentenced to 6 to 23 months in Broadmeadows Prison after convictions on three counts of conspiracy tied to a series of holdups. Howard C. Friel Jr. of Ardmore pleaded guilty to several counts and received the same sentence. Friel aided Peddicord and was involved in the Park Pharmacy holdup and related crimes.
