Mets face pitching woes amid team morale dip
Mets manager Joe Torre downplays concerns as players privately seek reassurance. The club shows strong hitting on road trips but falters with pitching, prompting calls for new arms. Stearns and Hebner defend the offense, noting 42 hits and 15 runs in three games with St. Louis and 3% hits and 20 runs with Atlanta, while the pitching remains the weak link.
