A Sun Oil Co Twelve Plant joint in Marcus Hook ruptured yesterday at 4 p.m. releasing a brief spray of light crude into the air. About 50 nearby residents gathered at the gates as plant officials, led by spokesman Jeff Peters, arranged decontamination and insurance assistance. The incident caused no health hazard but raised fresh concern over prior emission problems and a similar March 22 incident.

Lansdowne Seeks Recycling Grant From State
Borough council approved a recycling grant plan filed with the state Department of Environmental Resources before the June 16 deadline. Councilwoman Charlene Hennessy said the program starts in September with trash crews collecting steel and aluminum cans and residents receiving their first container. Newspapers will be picked up by an outside vendor due to staffing limits. Residents should continue placing glass in igloos. a third igloo will be added to separate clear, brown, and green glass.
