Chester man John Artwell pleaded no contest to third degree murder and a weapons offense for the execution style killing of drug dealer John Derrickson. Sentencing set for July 20. Derrickson, 27, was shot after allegedly carrying drug money and cash taken from his pockets.
Richard Parks, 51, a former Prospect Park resident now in Lancaster, was sentenced by Judge Frank T. Hazel to five to 20 years in jail for repeated sexual offenses. Parks, who has epilepsy and a leg amputation, underwent psychosexual treatment but denied problems, while prosecutors said new charges involved an 11-year-old boy.
Lawrence Cowan, a 37 year old ex controller of Pro Sign Co in Upper Darby, admitted theft by deception and forgery for diverting more than 125000 from company funds to his own account. Judge Melvin G Levy will sentence him July 20 after he agreed to repay 40000 immediately.
Southeast Delco interim superintendent Dr. William Leary announced a calendar revision. Students will finish on June 12 with June 15 and 16 set for teachers. The change reflects unused snow days, per Business Manager James Asciutto, noting the two teacher days did not drive the revision.
