Thousands protest Saskatchewan Medicare plan in Regina

Thousands from across Saskatchewan gathered in Regina to oppose the governments compulsory medical care plan. The Keep Our Doctors Committee led the protest as doctors strike grows with about 700 physicians. Premier Woodrow Lloyd said he would not meet the demonstrators but would hear a delegation if invited.

Drowning Tragedy At Media Lake Claims 3 Year Old Patti Abel

Patricia Abel, 3, daughter of William and Margaret Abel, drowned at Media Lake during a family outing for swimming lessons. Volunteers searched after her mother removed a life belt and could not locate her for two hours. Patti was found by Frank Williamson 50 yards from the pier. Rescue teams from Media and nearby towns assisted in the effort.

Trainer Woman Fatally Struck by Car on West 9th Street

Anna Blandford 75 of Cox Trailer Park died at Chester Hospital after being hit by Irene Dowman 49 of Linwood at 6 p.m. on West 9th Street. Dowman was held on involuntary manslaughter charges and released on bond after a magistrate hearing. Police said Blandford had been searching for a lost trailer key at the time.

Youngsters Find Ride To Camp Dunsmore
