Warm winds and 1914 high hit again and Skid Row slasher

Unseasonably warm winds produced a 64 degree high matching the January 29 1914 record as a 46 knot wind rattled trash and trees. In Hollywood California police say a new Skid Row slasher victim found with throat cut may be the eighth, matching but diverging from the earlier pattern in location and timing.

Boeing Strike Leads Into Sixth Week With Mediation

Delaware County workers remain on a 71 day strike as United Aerospace Workers and Boeing Vertol resume mediation at 10 a.m. Local 1069 spokesmen say talks continue but offer no details. union says they are returning to talks this morning.

Amtrak taps Paul Reistrup as new president chief executive

Paul H. Reistrup 42, longtime railroad man, named to head Amtrak succeeding Roger Lewis effective March 1. He previously led Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and is noted for pushing passenger service revival at Baltimore and Ohio in the 1960s. Amtrak formed in 1971 to assume most U.S. passenger trains.

Man arrested for shooting goose at DCCC campus

Ridley Township construction worker John S. Zizza Jr., 27, was arrested after police found a goose shot on the Delaware County Community College grounds. He faces charges of hunting without a license and illegally killed game, with the bird later donated to Don Guanella School.
