A 1974 Pension Reform Act signed by President Ford reshapes tax planning for millions. IRS rulings allow disabled retirees to claim up to 5200 yearly sick pay and amend past returns for refunds. Auto expense rates rise to 15 and 10 cents per mile, medical and charitable transportation costs to seven cents, with series guidance to follow.
Vice President Rockefeller says his eight member commission will seek violations of CIA statutes and identify who ordered domestic spying. CIA Director Colby will be questioned again as a Senate panel launches a broader probe of up to 60 agencies and may subpoena former President Nixon.
Bergen and Camden county officials took seven witnesses to Harrisburg to view Joseph Kallinger 39 and his 14 year old son Michael in a police lineup. Witnesses include victims and others who saw a man and boy near Leonia and Dumont during robberies and a murder.

John Morley of Ridley Township, out of work since last March, faces a weekly $104 in unemployment benefits after earning $350. The BES in Chester processed 1,052 new claims the week ending Jan. 10 as layoffs rise. Morley, a 52 year old mechanical engineer, lost work at a Philadelphia firm and tightens family finances while hoping for new opportunities.
About 16 000 Retail Clerks International Union members in the Greater Philadelphia area consider a tentative deal as 2 000 Delaware County workers vote at Padua School Wilmington on a 32 percent wage rise, while Boeing Vertol talks report limited progress via the Federal Mediation Service. Local 1349 meets to update members and prepare for a final vote.
OPEC ministers agreed to meet with importing nations and plan a four to six week summit to unify their position. A communique from Algiers confirmed a dialogue with industrialized and developing countries and set a summit between Feb 21 and March 8 in Algiers to thrash out the group stance.
Weekend fires in Chester Township and the City of Chester sent several people to hospital for smoke inhalation. Carletti Park Way Lounge in Chester Township burned in full blaze when responders arrived, with 75 men from five companies battling the fire until 4 15 a.m. The Ward Grill in Chester also suffered damage. One motel occupant was injured. fireman George Kaiser Jr and Peter Joe Kiner, 18, were treated for smoke inhalation and injuries.
