State orders removal of hazardous waste tanks at Eddystone site

The State Department of Environmental Resources ordered Industrial Park Development Co of Tarrytown to remove tank trucks and metal barrels suspected of containing hazardous chemical waste from the Eddystone Industrial Park within 30 days. ABM Disposal Inc. is linked to the dumps in Eddystone and Chester, both now under bankruptcy, with removal steps and evacuation history noted. The waste will be transported to a Bridgeport area destruction site or Alabama landfill as cleanup proceeds.

Philadelphia Suburban Water rate hike tentatively approved

Harrisburg UPI reports the Public Utility Commission tentatively approved a roughly 1.3 million dollar annual rate increase for Philadelphia Suburban Water Co Bryn Mawr, which serves 210,000 customers across Chester Delaware Bucks and Montgomery counties. Commissioner Michael Johnson criticized the company for repeated rate cases in four years.

Photo shops brace as silver prices spike hits film costs

Local camera dealers report Kodak raising film prices 15 to 30 percent and paper up 50 percent as silver surges from 21 to 48 dollars an ounce and then retreats to about 35.
