69th Street Terminal gains federal funding for refurbish

UMTA administrator Richard Page announced a total of 810000 dollars in federal funds plus 140000 dollars local matching for SEPTA to refurbish the 69th Street Terminal. Plans include opening turnstile areas, expanding walkways, painting interiors, and installing elevators to meet accessibility standards. The visit included U.S. Rep. Robert Edgar and local officials.

County union seeks 2000 per member pay raise in new contract

Delaware County Public Employes Association says the county can afford a 2000 per member raise with 1.8 million in savings from CETA payroll reductions. About 900 COPEA members would receive the boost, while 300 jobs have been cut since 1976. Mediation and potential strike vote shadow negotiations ahead of the current contract expiry.

Abortion bill cleared Senate for convention move

The Pennsylvania Senate approved HB 71 by 27 to 18 to request a national constitutional convention to draft an abortion ban. The measure, amended to allow abortions to save the mother, returns to the House for concurrence with strong House backing seen.
