Chester Soldier Nominated for Army Commendation Medal
Walter H. Mellorid of Chester traveled to Vietnam in 1968 and served with the 9th Infantry Division near Dong Tam. He was recommended for the Army Commendation Medal by his commander for combat duty as a field wireman in communications. Mellorid entered the Army July 14 1967 and trained at Fort Bragg and Fort Leonard Wood. He reported to Fort Bragg for assignment.
