In the Norwood arson case Joseph C Costelli 61 faces charges of arson and reckless endangerment after a July 20 fire at 31 Love Lane. Dr Gerald Umbrell a chemist disputed prosecutors’ claims that burn marks prove gasoline was poured. Umbrell said marks could arise from burning materials and that no accelerant evidence appeared on the porch or deck. The defense notes Costelli placed gas near the kitchen before cooking. G D Houtman Dies at 84 in Media Delaware County Leader
Gus D. Houtman a civil engineer and longtime civic figure in Media and Delaware County died at his home after a long illness. He would have been 85 on Feb 21. He led G D Houtman & Son surveying and chaired Media Borough Council for 32 years directing WPA funded projects and waterworks expansion.
