Washington AP reports inflation eased to a four month low in November with consumer prices up 0.5 percent. Slower rises in food, housing, clothing and utilities provided a pre-holiday respite as the Labor Department notes declines in several major components.
Frederick W. Blady Jr., 36, a motel resident, was arrested on arson related charges connected to the Allen Motor Inn fire that killed 12 last month. He appeared before District Justice Majorie Kinsman with a preliminary hearing set. a second suspect, Brady, tied to a minor blaze, awaits further action.
The Daily Times Merry Christmas Fund fell short of the $16,000 goal but earned $905 in donations from churches, individuals, and groups. Contributors include Wesley Fellowship, Upland Methodist Church, Southeastern Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion CME Church, Providence Baptist Church, and many private supporters. Funds go to the Daily Times drive at 500 Mildred Ave. Primos PA 19018.
Five persons were injured in two separate one car accidents in Middletown on Friday night within two hours. In the 6 pm crash on New Darlington Road three passengers were hurt, one seriously. one taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center Up land and another to Riddle Hospital. Jaws of life freed the occupants. In the 7:42 pm crash on Barren Road two men were trapped after hitting a tree stump. one went to Riddle and the other to Crozer-Chester. Lima fire aided by Lenni Heights and Media ambulances. Victim names were unavailable.
