Yugoslav Jet Crashes on Corsica Mountain Approach
A chartered Inex-Adria DC-9 with 178 aboard plowed into Mount San Pietro near Ajaccio Airport Corsica while approaching in fog and low clouds. All passengers and crew died. the crash marked the year’s worst aviation disaster. The flight was from Ljubljana to Corsica on a 90 minute excursion. the airport had been blacklisted by pilots as unsafe to land.
