Delaware County Cadets Honored For Army ROTC Distinction

Daily Times reports Delaware County residents earning defense honors. Cadet R Paul Schaudies of Wake Forest University is named distinguished military student, eligible for a regular commission. Other locals, including Airmen Mark Arnold Eric Linehan and Captain Gary Tenney, receive training, promotions, and assignments across Lackland Keesler Castle AFBs. Seaman Joseph Oakes, Richard Elverson, Steven Elliott, Ensign Bernard Beall, Nikki Damaskas, and five more County residents noted for Army Air Force and Navy service with scholarships, promotions, and overseas postings.

No legal challenge to rebates under state program

Harrisburg Secretary of Revenue Milt Lopus said there has been no legal challenge to a provision in the property tax and rent rebate program that gives rebates to widows and widowers aged 50 to 65 but denies it to divorced or never married individuals in the same bracket. He noted a defeated amendment to phase out widows and widowers under 65 and explained late-claim payments will begin after details are set. Those who already filed need not contact the department.
