Petition seeks keep Sirhan jailed beyond 1984 release
At a Sacramento news conference LA District Attorney John Van de Kamp and state officials urged that Sirhan Sirhan never be released from prison. He presented a lengthy petition accusing Sirhan of a political assassination that killed Senator Robert F. Kennedy and argued the 1984 parole date undermines the jury that recommended death in 1969. The board executive officer said the petition will be studied as precedents exist for revoking parole.
