SPACE CENTER Houston AP The first American in space and the man with the most time in space will command moon landing flights in 1970 Navy Captain James A Lovell Jr will command Apollo 13 lunar landing scheduled for March The agency announced Wednesday Navy Captain Alan B Shepard Jr who first put America in space in 1961 will command Apollo 14 lunar landing scheduled for July Space rookies Mattingly II and Fred Haise will fly with Lovell on Apollo 13 With Shepard on Apollo 14 Roosa and Mitchell will fly joining Shepard Apollo 12 crew already named Lovell who flew Gemini 7 and Apollo 8 will command Apollo 13 mission to Fra Mauro Highlands while Haise remains with Lovell in lunar orbit Apollo 14 targets the crater Copernicus near Sea of Tranquillity and Ocean of Storms for Apollo 12 Shepherds landing site is near Sea of Tranquillity Apollo 12 mission already assigned NASA will land in Ocean of Storms with Roosa in orbit and Mitchell joining the surface crew in Apollo 14 notes include past medical issues and long space careers.

Stevedores Suffer Nausea After Chemical Spill
Fourty five gallon drums of industrial chemical burst open in the hold of the Dominican Lines freighter Puerto Plata at a Philadelphia pier on the Delaware River. Stevedores aboard winched the drums out when the leak caused nausea and light burns among workers.
