Tough voting rights bill passes House committee test
Washington USPI The House Judiciary Committee backed permanent strict enforcement of voting rights with a bailout option for covered Southern jurisdictions after 10 years of clean records. The plan replaces a 10 year extension of pre clearance that would have expired August 6 1982.
