Man Falls To Death From Home in Chester

A 56 year old Chester man Robert Simpson fell from a third floor window while using a blanket rope. He died after admission to Chester Hospital with head injuries. Witness George Cheery and detective Thomas Gibbons described the climb and mysterious motive.

Springfield Beauty Crowned Miss Delaware County in 1962

Suzanne Evans, a 17 year old Springfield High School senior, won the Miss Delaware County title over 15 contestants in Springfield High School. Bonnie Swerman was runner up, with Eva Kasprowicz winning the evening gown division and Patricia Wothers named Miss Congeniality. Evans earned a $300 scholarship and will compete at West Chester on June 29 and 30 for the state crown and likely Miss America in Atlantic City.

Test Site In Pacific Closed Off

Washington reports a shipping and air traffic ban around Johnston Island as the United States prepares to fire high altitude nuclear bursts, the centerpiece of its Pacific test series. The AEC said public notice will come three to four days before any high altitude tests, with several blasts planned at heights of hundreds of miles per the head of the military research program Dr Harold Brown.

The Weather Bureau reports intermittent showers today at International Airport. Skies will partially clear Tuesday after a cooler day with a high near 65. Tonight’s low in the upper 40s and Tuesday’s top near 60. More showers are forecast for Saturday.
