Chester residents protest at Boyd Art Theater over adult films
About 20 women and children demonstrated Friday in front of the Boyd Art theater at 8th and Welsh Streets to press for family films. Organizer Mrs. De Twyman formed the Concerned Parents Organization to seek weekend family showings, while fundraising was planned at the William Penn Homes community building at noon today with hot dogs and drinks. The Boyd is the city’s only operating movie house. Marcus Hook columns note Air Products and Chemicals signed a five year lease for the former highway garage at 7th Street and Maiden Lane to support a new pilot plant. the plant is planned to produce about 4 million cubic feet per day of high BTU gas for Philadelphia Electric Co. Joint Alliance groups in Marple will host a Candidates’ Night at 8 p.m. Monday in Russell School.
