Widow denies legal wedding in Delaware County suit

U S sues to clean up hazardous dumping site

The U S Department of Justice and EPA sue in U S District Court to force former Chester businessman Melvin Wade and ABM Disposal to prepare a cleanup plan for hazardous dumping at Delaware Ave. and over it. The suit seeks a court order and to assess defendants' ability to fund the cleanup, with estimates from $1 million to $3.5 million. Franklin Tyson linked to ABM is also named. Wade says he is nearly bankrupt and ABM has gone out of business.

County appoints Whittlesey aide for court study

Richard Betres, 50, Chester County resident, will be paid up to 13000 to study personnel organization in the Clerk of Courts and Prothonotary offices under the new Office of Judicial S. DA denies clergyman probe ends in South Africa church case

Hazel denies reports that a 150 page state and county police inquiry cleared pastor Drummond of wrongdoing at the church in Concord and Baltimore Pike. He says investigations continue into accusations of child abuse, finances, and misconduct linked to the church and its members.

Conviction Upheld in Folcroft Beating Case

Pennsylvania Superior Court affirmed a Delaware County ruling denying a new trial for Wayne Lochman of Collingdale. Lochman, then 27, and two co defendants were accused as Warlocks in the 1972 beating of Danny Centrone in Folcroft. Centrone, 17, suffered permanent brain damage. Lochman argued he was misidentified and denied effective counsel.

EDC Receives $9,900 Federal Grant for Studies

Delaware County Economic Development Center received $9,900 from fourth year federal Community Development funds to cover the cost of engineering studies at the vacant Reynolds Metals Plant. The funds were allocated to the Chamber of Commerce and to EDC offices.
