Lake Lawn's Victory Ballroom announces a two act music week featuring Art Kassel and His Nationally Famous Kassels in the Air on Wednesday August 22 followed by Ron Wilde and his Hollywood California Orchestra for the rest of the week. Admission for Kassel is 1.25 plus tax. The article also notes a Farm Security Administration award presentation and mentions radio and stage connections for Wilde and associates.
Walworth County Fair runs August 31 to September 3 with 320000 racing program, four bands, new carnival acts, 150 plus horses, six $1000 purses and eight $600 purses. Ellman Carnival from Milwaukee adds 16 rides, livestock exhibits limited to Walworth County, 4H events, bankers hour awards, dining hall, amphitheatre improvements, and advance ticket sales starting August 15 in Elkhorn.
The Delavan City Garden Club meets Friday August 17 at Mrs. M. O. Johnson’s Burr Oak Court with assistants Mrs. Mary Mogg and Mrs. H. Gardner. A gardens tour begins at Mrs. W. E. Peffer’s home on South Third Street at 2:00 PM.
Bonnie Bigelow won first place with a pita bread made for and modeled by her year old sister. Priscilla Sanders took fourth in a demonstration on Emer gency Meals. Betty Erickson earned second place with A 001 Lunch. Priscilla competed in the Senior group and Betty in the Individual Junior group.
Delavan Lions Club announces its annual dance at Delavan Gardens on August 30. The event invites friends to an evening of fun and socializing as preparations proceed.
Mr. W. J. Carroll resigned as Elkhorn branch manager of Thorp Finance Corporation. Bert J. Kelnhofer appointed to the Elkhorn office and the surrounding Rock, Walworth and Racine counties territory.
The dental office moves to Yes Medical Building in the second Dr. J. R. Buckley location. Office phone remains 270 and residence 442-R-5 (2Wi) for contact.
Delavan Whitewater East Troy and Elkhorn high school bands have been secured for the fair. There were no bands at the fair last year.
