A large black long haired Irish setter type male dog with collar but no tags has been found near Cantu Road. Owners may call 774-3893 after 5 p.m. for details. The rest of the items include church services, meetings, programs, and volunteer calls in Del Rio.
Del Rio International Airport Commission members will discuss the city ordinances that created the commission and the office of airport superintendent when they meet Wednesday at 4 30 p m in the Municipal Building. The agenda includes deciding whether to recommend changes to the ordinance to enhance the commission's effectiveness to the city council.

Miss Maria Guadalupe Torres 53 died Monday in a local hospital. Rites are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Rev. Gerald J. Fogarty officiating. Burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Park under Don's direction. Rosary tonight at 8 in Chapel A. She was born October 3 1927 in Del Rio and resided at 201 Chihuahua St. A sister Mrs Theresa Maldonado of Del Rio survives.
A Brackettville man, Robert Freeman 20, died Monday at Brooke Army Medical Center after a pickup he drove overturned 0.3 miles west of Del Rio on U S Highway 90 E near 2:50 a.m. Three others, Johnny Ray Rodrigues 20 Lydia Martinez 20 and Rose Mary Agrego 20 of Brackettville, were in good condition at Val Verde Memorial Hospital.
After a Monday night executive session San Felipe Del Rio trustees could not nominate five persons to Val Verde County Tax Appraisal District board directors. They plan to wait until October called meeting to make five nominations as the district consolidates county city and school taxing bodies set to take effect in January for equal property tax valuations.
Porfirio Castillo Tovar, 51, was arrested in Brackettville after allegedly threatening his wife at a cafe and others with a hunting knife at Tiger Den and his residence. He remained in Kinney County Jail on a 10,000 dollar bond after arraignment. Police Chief Nor man H Hooten said additional charges may follow.
A series of patient admissions and discharges midweek at Val Verde Memorial Hospital. Friday lists include Linda Kekoa and Maria Rodriguez among admitted and Elpidio Antu among discharged. Saturday and Sunday entries record names such as Guillermo Rodriguez and Yolanda Haynes with multiple repeats. Monday entries note Sylvia Briones and Regina Marshall among admitted, Pablo Martinez and Ramona Ortiz among discharged.
Police investigate a $5,000 pickup stolen from a Del Rio resident's driveway between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. The thief also took a $100 tool chest, tools, a $50 toolbox, and about 17 gallons of gasoline. Additional reports include a van burglary at Jay Miller Construction and battery thefts from rental trucks, plus a campus storage shed theft and a Bargain World window damage.

Rain so far in September 0.36 inches, yearly total 19.62 inches, 6.93 inches above normal. Extended forecasts predict scattered thundershowers along the Coastal Plains Rio Grande Valley and extreme South Texas with 60s overnight and 80s highs. West Texas skies partly cloudy Thursday through Saturday with lows 50s north to mid-60s south, highs in the 80s.
Elevation at Amistad rose to 1117.19 feet this morning, down .07 from Monday. Amistad Dam depth sits at 217.19 feet, reduced by .07. Water storage stands at 3,517,870 acre feet, 4,268 acre feet lower. Water surface covers 65,023 acres, 62 acres smaller. Downstream flow remains steady at 8,400 cubic feet per second.
