U S Border Patrol stopped a Jeep Cherokee near Quemado south of Del Rio and seized more than 437 pounds of marijuana. Two 17 year old suspects were arrested and turned over to Maverick County Sheriff's Office with the vehicle and drugs. The stash was the sector's largest seizure in the week, with total confiscations exceeding 928 pounds.

Minows to be rescued from Texas Brazos River drought
Wildlife biologists will evacuate two minnows, Smalleye shiners and Sharpnose shiners, from the Brazos River in West Texas to the hatchery near Possum Kingdom Lake. If drought ends, the fish will return. Scientists fear extinction if reproduction fails next year.
