Border Patrol agent killed in motorcycle crash near Del Rio
A 46 year old Del Rio Border Patrol agent Stephen Charles Smith died after his 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX motorcycle was struck by a 2004 blue Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by 42 year old John Timothy Wroth at the 3200 block of U S Highway 90 and Veterans Boulevard. Wroth ran a posted stop sign and left turns onto Veterans Boulevard while Smith attempted to stop. EMS transported Smith to Val Verde Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4 48 p m. Blood was drawn from Wroth for alcohol testing as investigators evaluate potential criminal charges. The crash remains under investigation by DRPD detectives and the criminal investigation division.
