Burglars hit Del Rio children's shelter twice
Del Rio police investigate two separate burglaries at the Val Verde County Emergency Children's Shelter. Administrator Carolina Ortiz says a rear window was broken in the first break-in, with items including a computer, TV, lamps, mattresses and bedding stolen. A second break-in occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning, with more bedding taken and boxes rummaged through.

Del Rio Sought for Local Foster Care Help
Baptist Children Home Ministries officials Bruce Thompson and Asennet Segura spoke in Del Rio about a critical foster care need. The BCHM, tracing roots to 1943, reported 86 area children outside their families, with 82 living outside the community due to lack of local foster homes. Requirements include transportation, steady income, a high school diploma, and being over 25. Foster families receive 24 seven support, training, and case management.
