The International Boundary and Water Commission announced a decrease in releases from Amistad Dam. At 12 noon the flow was cut from 7946 to 4591 cubic feet per second. The San Felipe ex students meeting was postponed to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Brown Plaza.

Val Verde County commissioners approved a 10000 emergency appropriation to repair Dolan Creek area roads washed out by rains. They also met with jail consultants to review a 130 inmate facility plan built to meet Texas standards, while other actions included bids for used and new vehicles and personnel promotions.
Police investigated weekend losses totaling 1728 dollars. Burglars entered a vacated grocery store at 400 W. Chappy St. through an eastside window and took three scales valued at 1600 dollars as well as meat, produce and dry goods. The victim is Joe Sanchez Jr. describing the store once run by his father.
In a seaside town of 2,400 residents, bodies began washing ashore at 5 30 am as debris and the ship’s mast lay scattered along the shore. The submerged frame, about 50 feet from land, showed waves pushing it inland. A visibly pregnant woman was among the dead. Paramedics bagged remains for bulldozers, then vans to Broward County Morgue. Police reported other crimes including a purse theft at a courthouse arts sale and two arrests for assault, intoxication, and auto burglary with ongoing investigations.
Mrs Gurley supports the plan while Wardlaw backs Leonard on a vote. Gonzalez votes aye along with Wardlaw and himself. Torres and Padilla vote no. County Attorney Garcia says the plan appears to comply with the Voting Rights Act and Texas Constitution. Judge Gonzalez notes the next step is submission to the Justice Department.

Del Rio Eighth Grade Campus held a Friday homecoming pep rally in Cody Wardlaw Gym with skits and cheers. John Rosas won football king with Cindy Nordstrand as sweetheart. Carla Erlich princess and Rita Johnson duchess. Gwen Copple named best eighth grade pep squad member.
Del Rio firefighters battled two Sunday fires. At 3:15 p.m. a palm tree fire at 106 West Ney Street was blamed on an electrical short and strong winds. Firefighters returned to station about 4 p.m. after dousing the blaze. Earlier near 7:00 a.m. a camp fire near Southern Pacific Transportation at 100 North Main Street was also extinguished by two crews from G. W. Cox Memorial Fire Station.
The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and mild temperatures for Tuesday with highs in the upper 70s today and an overnight low in the upper 40s. Tuesday’s high expected in the upper 80s with variable winds, plus a detailed regional forecast for West Texas and South Texas shows generally fair conditions, 70s to 80s then 40s to 60s at night.
