Halloween carnival planned at Comstock school
A Halloween carnival is planned at Comstock school Saturday with a 5 30 p.m. supper, followed by entertainment and a talent show. The first meeting of the school district Parental Council will be held Tuesday at 10 30 a.m. at the Parental Center in the Garfield School annex. Officers will be elected. VFW Post 8552 will host a Veterans Day memorial program in Star Park at 5 p.m. Nov. 11. A planning meeting is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the post hall. Head Start and Migrant Parent Advisory Council will hold an organizational meeting for Buena Vista School parents Monday at 9 30 a.m. at the migrant parental office. Juana E. Rosas and Raquel Tovar will furnish transportation. Bus riders call 774 4521 Ext 2320. Alpha Gamma Beta of Beta Sigma Phi hosts a holiday bazaar on Saturday Dec 5. Kinney voters approve $850000 school bond issue
Kinney County voters Saturday backed an $850,000 expansion and renovation plan for Brackettville Independent School District by 121 to 62. The bond funds will add classrooms at Jones Elementary for about 40 kindergartners and the district's special education program, expand Brackett High School library resources, remodel the track concession stand and restrooms, convert the old gym to a breakfast program, and renovate administration space. Bond sale is planned for early 1982 with construction to follow a contracted award.
