Police officers resign after deer shooting incident
Department Capt. Keith Fleckenstein and Capt. Charles Bruce led an investigation into a deer shooting. Morris declined comment. No charges were filed. Four possible charges were listed by Cuellar, including hunting at night and hunting out of season. Both officers resigned, ending their law enforcement careers. Parks and Wildlife officials will not press charges, and officials were satisfied with the police department’s action. One officer fired. the other remained silent after the incident.

Fiesta fever colors Del Rio parade day at Fiesta event
Area Cub Scouts Pack 77 sponsored by Laughlin AFB won the Grand Championship for the second year in a row in the Soap Box Derby at the Del Rio Civic Center lot. Packs 222 and 81 claimed top honors in eight and nine year old divisions, with Pack 77 again winning the 10-year-old category. More than 200 scouts took part across 27 entries. The Fiesta Val Arts and Crafts show continued on the courthouse lawn, and a menude cook-off ran at 6 a.m. with prizes awarded for The Hill, Ka Hooter's, and Papalote Menute. A silent auction followed at The Firehouse.

Del Rio Firefighters Win Popeye Trophies in Spinach Festival
