The Rio Grande bridge between Del Rio and Ciudad Acuña will close Friday for 30 minutes from 11 to 11:30 a.m. for the Abrazo ceremony and longer Saturday for the International Parade. Traffic will be limited to paved entries due to the narrow span.
Nicholas B. Galle a 45 year old seventh grade reading teacher in Del Rio died of a gunshot wound authorities called personal safety related. Rites were held in Wellston Ohio for Galle who resided at 701 Spring St Del Rio and had been ill before entering Veterans Hospital in Kerrville Oct 14. He left the hospital Oct 15 and his body was found near Kerrville.

Four Del Rio firefighters responded to a pickup truck fire in the Plaza del Sol Mall parking lot around 6:25 p.m. The vehicle owned by Mario Corbala sustained damage estimated at $50, with rubber hoses in the engine compartment burned. Crews used a CO-2 extinguisher to put out the blaze in about 15 minutes.
Santry announced Rotan Mosse Inc will underwrite the district's $4 million bond issue with sale set for Dec 8. Bond firm reps to discuss on Oct 27 as the hospital seeks Texas Health Facilities Commission certification for a CAT Scanner. Board also approved a modified Buena Salud contract to allow flexible hospital rates next year.
