Gambling suspect remains in custody in Del Rio
A 48 year old Del Rio man, Charles Odom Jr., whose 1979 gambling promotion conviction was affirmed by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, remains jailed awaiting transfer to the Texas Department of Corrections. He was arrested Friday inside the Gaslite Lounge after a stakeout by Val Verde County officers. The arrest followed a tip, and Odom reportedly fled into an attic hideout before being captured.

Three taken to prison in Texas burglary cases
Three men convicted of burglaries earlier this year were transported to Huntsville to begin terms in the Texas Department of Corrections. Tomas Martinez Pena, 18, of Saltillo, and Reyes Flores, 33, of Dallas, received five year sentences for the May 11 burglary at County Commissioner Martin Wardlaw's home and a May 21 felon in possession of a firearm arrest respectively. Raul Renovato, 19, of 402 Rubio Sr., will serve 120 days on unauthorized use of a vehicle under shock probation.
