Del Rio Grapples With Record Rain Floods Border City

Del Rio faced one of its wettest years as storms saturated the area. Rainfall topped 3.8 inches by mid afternoon, with airport totals over three inches by 9 p.m. A flash flood watch was issued for Val Verde County. Roads including State Highway 55 and US Highways 277 and 377 were closed by barricades. Police urged caution as drivers sought alternate routes while crews worked to clear flooded streets.

Protest at Del Rio Bridge draws hundreds in rain
