Borderfest music festival set for Saturday at Val Verde Fairgrounds
Inaugural Borderfest a one day event from 1 AM to midnight at Val Verde County Fairgrounds features Zane Williams Ray Wylie Hubbard Uncle Lucius and more. Organized by concerned citizens the festival is non profit with fifty percent of proceeds to Val Verde Women and Children Shelter and the rest to Val Verde Charitable Foundation for local charities.

Police arrest man for violating protective order
Armand Saxton, 29, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 4 for allegedly attempting to enter a woman’s apartment despite a protective order. He faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of violating bond or protective order per the Del Rio Police Department report.

Del Rio Fire and Rescue participates in Fire Prevention Week by installing fire alarms in homes. Miss Del Rio Pageant crowns first Miss Division queen
Special to the News Herald Fiesta de Amistad kickoff features two divisions Miss and Teen. The Miss Division covers ages 19 to 26.
