Parida Cave Reopens At Amistad After High Water
High Amistad Reservoir levels restore public access to Parida Cave, a South Texas archeological site along the Rio Grande. Park Service workers and nine volunteers rehabilitated the trail, installed signs, and laid rubber mats to improve safety for visitors viewing ancient rock art and artifacts from 4000 B.C. to 200 B.C. The cave also holds historic ties to Painted Cave Railroad Station in the 1880s.
