Lucas claims only killed his mother amid past confessions
Huntsville Texas AP Henry Lee Lucas, awaiting lethal injection for a hitchhiker killing, said he only killed his mother and did not commit the other murders he had confessed to. He tied disclosures of another man’s confession to his own past claims and said drugs influenced his earlier admissions. He estimated about 230 cases may be dismissed as untrue.

Ram Band to Compete at Eagle Pass Festival
Del Rio High School Ram Band will join the Eagle Pass Band Festival competing with 5A schools such as Nixon High School of Laredo. Judges Alfredo Cortinas Art Guajardo and Charlie Arguaga will preside as the contest starts at 5 p.m. at Eagle Pass High School. Del Rio performs at 7 15 p.m. All are invited. On Oct 15 the Ram Band attends a UIL contest in San Antonio. The festival aims to better prepare the band for national competition.
