Laughlin honors war veteran Baldwin inducted into Heritage Hall
Laughlin Air Force Base honorariums marked Memorial Day weekend as the 85th Flying Training Squadron inducted Chaplain Col. Charles C. Baldwin into Heritage Hall. A 1969 Air Force Academy graduate and Vietnam veteran, Baldwin flew rescue missions and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for a critical Ashan Valley operation. He later became a chaplain and served a term as a Southern Baptist minister before returning to the Air Force and serving again through Desert Storm.

Del Rio Graduates From Long Distance Nursing Program
Six Del Rio residents joined classmates from Carrizo Springs Eagle Pass and Uvalde to earn UT Health Science Center nursing degrees in a long-distance program. Ninety percent of the classes were via interactive video with limited travel to San Antonio. Graduation was held at Laurie Auditorium with a Brownsville doctor delivering the guest speech.

Val Verde officials lauded for spring cleanup efforts in Del Rio
Val Verde County Judge Mike L. Fernandez and County Commissioner Jesus Eliseo Ortiz were praised at the last city council meeting for supporting Del Rio's spring cleanup with crew and equipment. The council also approved 10,000 for the Boys and Girls Club summer program, part of a 30,000 total funding from city housing authority and program fees to cover staff, supplies, and activities for about 250 children.
