Dam Burst Evacuates Homes and Rest Home at Hope Mills Lake
A rain swollen lake caused a dam to break at Hope Mills Lake triggering evacuations of about 40 homes and the Happy Valley Retirement Center. Police guided residents to shelters then many could return. no injuries reported. Retirement home has around 30 residents. officials feared risk though most are ambulatory.

City to honor policeman with park naming in Del Rio
Del Rio City Council will consider a resolution at 6:30 p.m. to rename land west of the Dr. Fermin Calderon Boulevard Bridge along San Felipe Creek as a park named for late Lt. Tom Romanelli. Police Chief Manny Herrera notes officers will assist with fundraising to keep city costs low while the park is maintained.
